Architecture & Interiors Studio
A Little About us…
We are one of the few London studios that provide a holistic architecture and interior design service. Thoughtful collaboration between our interior designers and architects has produced nationally recognised, award-winning homes. We have over 30 years experience producing exquisite homes that are a joy to live in and have a portfolio of heritage restorations, large renovations and contemporary new build projects.
Matthew Giles founded the practice to create homes where every project is fine-tuned to it’s owners and therfore truly unique. We look for opportunities to create exciting spaces with good views, abundant natural light and a reassuring sense of comfort. We then finish these spaces with materials and furniture specially selected by our interiors team.
We will always begin with you, spending time to get to know how you live, then designing your home from the inside out. We value our client’s trust, we therefore bring an equal measure of professionalism and personableness to every project.
There is a great flow between the kitchen and the garden, and so whilst cooking or socialising in the kitchen, you feel part of whatever is going on outside. THe height of the space and abundance of glazing emphasises the change in light throughout the year.

We have a Wealth of experience
While our clients may share similar aspirations, in our experience no two projects will be the same. Not only are we experts in helping clients to articulate their aspirations for their home, we have worked with a number of different London boroughs to secure planning permission in complex environments. Matthew Giles Architects have an excellent track record of delivering projects - managing the building work on site and making sure that everything is completed to the standards you expect.
Our conversations with potential clients begin with a visit to the plot/ site to get a sense of its latent qualities and your desires for your project. We’ll discuss things like budget, timeframes for completing the works, how you plan to use the home and which spaces are of most importance. From the outset, we’ll be thinking about the home’s orinentation and how we can take advantage of that. We also consider how developing the garden can help to enhance the interior spaces. After the initial consultation we’ll discuss whether our design sensibilities and values align and whether we will be formally appointed
We’ll can help you craft a home that is tailored to the way you want to live. Fill in the short questionnaire below to tell us about your aspirations and one of our senior designers will get in touch to arrange your design consultation.

More on our approach
Architectural Design
Our expertise lies in designing new homes and transforming existing homes so that they work better for the modern way of living. In the case of whole of house refurbishments, we carefully carve into the existing property and add extensions that maximise the use of the plot. Our aim is to give our clients homes which are dynamic, connected and offer intriguing moments of delight.
Early discussions with our clients reveal a loose brief, a programme of rooms will become clear: the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, working spaces as well as any specific family needs. Flexibility and fluidity is built in to the design process allowing you to continually contribute to the design process and secure a home that matches your ambitions.
“We didn’t really have to say that much, We gave them quite a free hand to come up with the design, and they delivered. The home feels bigger than it really is and we appreciate the natural palette and emphasis on craftsmanship & Light.”

Interior Design
Architecture and interiors are undoubtedly linked, and we provide a holistic service which takes account of the natural overlap between these two disciplines. We don’t see interior design as a superficial ‘add-on’. We believe it’s a vital component in the design process that enhances each daily ritual, thereby having a transformative effect on life.
Our interior designers pull inspiration from everywhere finding new materials and elements of furniture that will allow your home to flex and adapt to your needs. Thinking deeply about the fine-grain details, they look for materials that will age well, feel warm under the hand, withstand wear and smooth the transition between different zones.
Homes are having to work harder then ever before, a base for work, socialising and relaxing. We enjoy the early collaboration between interior designers and architects. By thinking ahead we can layer spatial dynamics with interesting textures and details to create a home that feels just right for you. Balanced but not boring. Both a backdrop and a stage.
