PECKHAM
The Peckham garden room project is our interpretation of an expressed utilitarian lean-to structure, modernised with contemporary detailing.
The design intent of this small garden room extension is for our client to be able to take advantage of their own garden and surrounding views year round.
The form of the garden room is derived from traditional ‘lean to’ garden structures of the past and has been partially clad in western red cedar, with the roof finished using natural zinc. Internally, original masonry remains exposed, aluminium framed picture windows frame garden views, a single roof light is highlighted in peach, and carefully detailed walls and ceilings incorporate sound-absorbent panels. Despite the minimal added area, we believe the benefits of the gained amenity have a significant impact to the original house.
The Peckham Garden Room was completed in Spring 2019. Our client is delighted with the end result and is currently planning their centenary birthday party around the new garden addition.
